We earn a commission when you register through a link on this site. It costs you nothing extra. The referral discount is applied to your fees regardless. Information only. Not investment advice.

What the OKX code actually gives you

OKX applies a 20% discount through the code, and the venue it applies to is already one of the cheaper ones here. Spot maker orders are 0.08% rather than the 0.10% most large exchanges charge, so the discount comes off a lower base than usual. The opposite of the situation where a big percentage off an expensive venue still leaves you paying more.

That maker rate is the detail worth planning around. If you accumulate positions with resting limit orders rather than market orders, you are paying below the industry standard before the code applies at all. Most comparison pages skip past this because a single blended fee number hides it.

The code is in the signup link. OKX does not accept US registrations and restricts several other jurisdictions, and it enforces this at identity verification rather than signup, which means the failure arrives after you have deposited, not before.

How to make sure the OKX code applies

  1. Sign up through the referral link

OKX carries the invite code in the URL path. The relationship is fixed at registration and cannot be added afterwards.

  2. Check the code is shown before submitting

The registration form displays the referral code when the link has carried it correctly. If the field is empty, enter the code manually.

  3. Complete verification

OKX requires identity verification for fiat deposits and withdrawals above minimal thresholds. Have a photo ID available.

  4. Decide on unified versus classic account mode

OKX offers a unified account that shares margin across products, and a classic mode with separate balances. If you are new to derivatives, classic mode makes it much harder to accidentally put spot collateral at risk in a leveraged position.
